Airtel Trace Music Stars becomes the first song contest of its kind where contestants can win simply by recording their song on the phone call, with an option to rehearse on a phone karaoke that scores the performance.

While making the announcement, Airtel Kenya CEO Adil El Youssefi said, “Airtel is delighted to be associated with TRACE in bringing such a unique competition that is geared towards supporting and nurturing talents amongst Kenyan youth. This is the platform that will help our talented youth to show Africa and the rest of the world the wealth of talent that exists within our country and be rewarded generously for it.

To participate, a contestant will be required to call 0900 733 733 and record their entry. You can choose to perform a song in any language /genre of choice. All languages will be considered as valid entries. One can also use instruments but you must sing and only the singing will be considered. If the entry is approved, the customer will receive 2 SMSs; one, a congratulation message that includes the candidate’s username and a password to log into the TRACE website- where one can customize his/her entry as well as sharing it to social media platforms. The second SMS is one that you can forward to friends and family to encourage them to start voting for your entry.

The 5 best entries will be selected by a panel of judges and will be announced on 4th January 2015. The finalists will be promoted on TRACE urban and the Web.
