In a land commonly held to be the ‘cradle of humankind’ grows the venerable Marula tree. Steeped in legend and tradition, this wild tree is revered by African tribes as the marriage tree under whose fertile branches many an African princess has been joined in wedded bliss. The Marula tree is indigenous to sub-equatorial Africa and its fruit can only be harvested in the wild. This is what gives Amarula its distinctive flavour and silky texture.

Amarula Cream has won its third international gold medal for excellence this year, awarded by the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) in London. This latest fete follows gold clinched in other different competitions in Europe and USA held earlier this year.

The IWSC now in its 45th year promotes the quality and excellence of the world’s best wines, spirits and liqueurs. All entries from around the world endure a rigorous blind tasting and are judged by some of the world’s leading drinks experts. “Three very different competitions, three very different panels, yet the results are consistent testifying the universal appreciation of the African Original.” Said the global spokes person for Amarula, Tamsyn Parkins during the competition.
